POSITION PURPOSE:
The Pharmacy Technician will perform many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and perform administrative functions of the department that do not require professional judgment and extensive technical training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Accurately and effectively prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist.
- Makes requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacist.
- Accurately and effectively orders, receives, and maintains inventory of drugs and chemicals, and ensures their security in accordance with department policy and procedure.
- Helps maintain an orderly, clean environment including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies.
- Accurately and effectively enters data into the computer system, records prescriptions, purchases orders, stock orders, requisitions, and disbursements.
- Under direction of the Pharmacist, removes unneeded or outdated drugs from stock and prepares for return or disposal.
- Performs general clerical duties for the department.
- Follows all Aviva Health and department policies, procedures, and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- State licensing is required with national certification preferred.
- Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training course or a minimum of one year of on-the-job training.
- Ability to accurately and effectively enter data into an electronic pharmacy record.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize duties, and be organized.
- Ability to effectively interact with patients and other staff from varied backgrounds and personalities and maintain good relationships.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service under pressure to both patients and other staff.
