POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Dental Manager, in addition to regular job duties, the Administrative Assistant Lead is responsible for guiding the daily activities of the dental administrative assistant staff. This position ensures efficient and effective workflow of patients during scheduled clinic hours through joint planning and problem solving with administrative assistant and clinic staff. It is critical that the Lead keeps several tasks moving along in a well- organized manner while functioning at a high level of accuracy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Trains all new dental patient services representative staff.
  • Aids staff that may need additional training or coaching.
  • Maintains current knowledge of software specific for registration and dental records and ensures that staff is also proficient in these areas.
  • Implements and educates staff and patients on departmental policies.
  • Assists Dental Manager with staff work schedules to ensure proper coverage at all sites.
  • Performs relevant dental office procedures that ensures smooth operation of the clinic.
  • Attends in-services, leadership, and other required meetings.
  • Follows all Aviva Health policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:

  • Strictly adheres to the ethics and Code of Conduct as established by the American Dental Association, Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners, and Aviva Health.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments efficiently and timely. Works with minimal supervision and exercises sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Promotes positive customer relations and service to both internal and external customers in a non-discriminatory, confidential, professional, and friendly manner that builds dignity for each individual person.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge of Practice Management, Electronic Dental Records, dental terminology, and anatomy.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm.
  • Two year’s clerical experience in a dental office setting preferred.
