We challenge the status quo, redefining what it means to truly put the customer first.

We're rapidly growing and recognized for it! Clearcover has been featured on the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies list and the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ list, raising over $560 million in funding to date.

We've also been honored on Insurance Business America's Top Insurance Employers list and CNBC's World's Top Insurtech Companies, with Forbes naming us one of America's Best Insurance Companies in 2025.

But what makes Clearcover truly different is our people. We're a team of curious, compassionate problem-solvers who believe that doing right by our customers and each other is just good business.

What will you do?

Clearcover is seeking a seasoned and strategic Managing Attorney to lead our insurance legal function in Texas. We’re looking for a seasoned litigator to serve as Managing Attorney for Clearcover’s Texas staff counsel office. You’ll be our first in-house trial lawyer in the state, responsible for handling your own docket of first- and third-party auto cases and helping us build the internal team that will defend our insureds across Texas. This is a rare opportunity to blend hands-on courtroom practice with team leadership and operational strategy — inside a fast-growing, well-funded insurtech that values ethical lawyering and customer trust.

Lead In-House Litigation in Texas

  • Litigate a full docket of personal auto defense cases (BI, PD, UM/UIM, PIP, etc.)
  • Handle all aspects of pre-trial and trial litigation, from pleadings and motions to depositions, mediations, and jury trials
  • Make strategic decisions in case handling, reporting, and resolution in coordination with Claims partners
  • Appear regularly in courts across key Texas venues (e.g., Harris, Dallas, Bexar, Tarrant, Travis counties)

Build and Lead the Staff Counsel Function

  • Help design and stand up our in-house litigation model in Texas
  • Participate in hiring, training, and mentoring future staff counsel and legal support
  • Implement workflows, performance metrics, and best practices for trial excellence
  • Serve as the point of contact between the litigation team and Legal leadership

Operational & Product Collaboration

  • Provide expert coverage opinions and guide the claims department on complex and high-exposure claims
  • Collaborate with the Insurance Product team on policy language and form development, leveraging insights from claims and legal trends
  • Serve as a key legal resource for the Underwriting team on coverage interpretation and risk assessment

What do you need?

  • 5–7 years of legal experience, with a focus on insurance coverage
  • Experience with private passenger automobile policy defense and coverage interpretation and litigation, including both first party (UM, COMP, COLL, PIP, MED PAY) and third party (BI, PD) coverage types
  • Litigation experience, including Declaratory Judgment Action work and other brief writing
  • Bar licensed to practice law and in good standing in one of the 50 states or DC

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with other types of insurance policies and related interpretation and coverage work: Homeowners, Renters, Professional Liability, Inland Marine, Commercial/Business Auto and Fleet
  • Texas bar license or ability to waive in
  • Prior experience building or scaling an in-house litigation function

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
