About Inversa

Inversa (www.inversa.com) is a venture-backed startup that restores ecosystems at scale by managing harmful invasive species populations. Origin, Inversa's digital platform that connects field ops to the policy layer, is how we do it.

About Origin

Origin is Inversa's on-the-ground wildlife management platform. It integrates field operations, data systems, and government workflows into a single unified system that allows agencies to manage invasive species programs with precision rather than guesswork.

Across Florida, hundreds of contracted field hunters open the Origin mobile app as they head into the swamps of the Greater Everglades to remove invasive Burmese pythons. They work from synced maps, updated bounties, and real-time guidance, even without a signal.

Every removal logged flows into a GIS dashboard used by Inversa's operations team and state agency partners. Payouts are automated. Ecosystem impact is tracked.

This is the system you'll be maintaining, reinforcing, and future-proofing as it scales.

About the role

As a software engineer on Inversa's team focused on platform reliability & automation, your core responsibility will be keeping Origin stable, reliable, and production-ready. You'll take ownership of bug fixes, system stability, and ongoing platform maintenance, with the ability to help ship new features as needed.

This Montreal-based hybrid role is a full-time position. You'll work closely with a tight-knit engineering and product team and play a critical role in ensuring Origin remains dependable as we scale statewide programs, eventually creating automated AI systems to improve debugging as the company grows.

Our current tech stack includes

  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Expo / React Native
  • PostgreSQL
  • Python
  • Rust (Rust experience is a plus but not required; support is available)

Who you might be

We're looking for a senior full-stack platform engineer with deep experience operating real production systems. You bring strong judgment, independence, and a calm, methodical approach to failure. When something breaks, you can trace it to root cause, make the right tradeoffs, and ship fixes that last.

This role is for someone who has built and maintained complex systems in a startup environment and is excited to push reliability further by exploring how AI-powered tooling and autonomous debugging agents can scale their impact. You'll own core platform reliability, from day-to-day maintenance to designing smarter systems that reduce operational burden over time.

If you want to apply your engineering experience to infrastructure that directly supports ecosystem restoration at scale, this could be a meaningful next chapter.
