Delivery Manager - HVAC (Detroit) (technology start-up)
Pearl Edison
Company Description
Pearl Edison is dedicated to making home electrification easy for customers and profitable for contractors, starting with home heating and cooling. Our purpose-built software platform enables homeowners to quickly generate a value-engineered system design, receive fixed-price quotes, and connect with qualified contractors. Pearl saves contractors time and money by handling the assessment, design, and bid preparation, allowing them to focus on installations. Our goal is a win-win-win for customers, contractors, and the climate.
Role Description
Overview
Pearl Edison is hiring a Delivery Manager to serve our customers across multiple markets - in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and other markets to be launched soon. Your success will be measured by our delivery (on-time and on-spec) for our customers, and by the experience of our contractor partners.
After we’ve sold an electrification project, you’ll manage critical workflows to ensure that we deliver what we promised. You’ll procure equipment, facilitate installation through our network of contractor partners, manage rebate qualification, review commissioning data to ensure that the project is done and done right, and manage our QA / QC processes.
This is a critical operations role - the first of its kind at Pearl Edison. You will shape operational processes, our software platform, and our culture.
You’ll report to Pearl Edison Co-Founder, Jake.
What you’re responsible for
Day-to-day, you will:
- Review job documentation before distribution to contractor partners. Our installing contractor partners rely on this job documentation to plan a bid and plan an install - you’ll ensure that the job documentation provides all of the information they’ll need to do this.
- Flag problems before they’re problems. You’ll escalate the right questions and watch-outs to Building Science Lead to avoid delivery problems downstream.
- Manage contractor selection. Our installing contractor partners will provide their interest in, availability for, and price for the job. You’ll select a contractor (in consultation with the General Manager) and arrange the install.
- Buy equipment. You’ll work with our network of local distribution partners to procure equipment that meets the minimum performance specifications required by our contract with the customer and any applicable rebate and tax incentive programs.
- Manage rebate approval workflows. You’ll create and execute workflows to claim the customer’s federal, state, municipal, utility, and OEM rebates, discounts, and tax incentives.
- Answer or route contractor questions, before install day and on install day. You’ll be the primary point of contact for the contractor and need to be responsive. You don’t have to know all the answers - but you do have to leverage the team to find all the answers.
- Review contractor-submitted documentation to verify completion and approve payment.
Apart from your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll provide feedback and work with the Product, Design, and Engineering teams to make the software platform better - to support your work and produce better results for the homeowners and contractors we serve. Every team member at Pearl Edison shares this responsibility. We’re a software-enabled service, not software-as-a-service, and we’re only as good as our workflow - the platform we are building to streamline and enforce workflow, and our execution of workflow. You should feel personal responsibility for both.
What you’re accountable for
You’re accountable for:
- Delivery on-time and on-spec
- Change orders or call-backs - i.e., instances in which we need to return to the jobsite to deliver what we promised
- Contractor experience
