About Pearl Edison

Company

Pearl Edison is a software-enabled general contractor for complex residential electrification and energy efficiency projects. We operate a turnkey home concierge service for our partners - utilities, governments, green lenders, community organizations, environmental champions, and anyone that wants to make more of these projects happen. We help these partners enforce quality end-to-end and maintain the trust of their customers.

We’re building a game-changing software platform to manage electrification and energy efficiency projects end to end - from lead acquisition and qualification, to in-home data collection and diagnostic testing, to system design and project scoping, to post-install quality assurance. And we’re building a killer operations team - supported by that software platform - to deliver these projects. We’re growing fast, so the team is too.

We exist in service of homeowners. Electrification isn’t easy, even if you’re motivated - it’s a lot of work to figure out the right scope of work, ensure a quality system design, get a fair price, find a qualified installer, and ensure best-practice install and commissioning. We help.

We exist in service of our contractor partners - in particular, contractors who do great work and win on install quality. Customer acquisition is expensive. We send our partners fully contracted, fully designed jobs. We measure our success by their improved profitability.

We exist in service of our partners - in service of their mission to make more electrification projects happen, and their commitment to serving their customers well.

We’re fired up about our work because we have an opportunity to solve kitchen table problems for customers, help great contractors win, and dent climate change - win-win-win - at the same time, at scale.

Leadership

Pearl Edison was founded by Jake Yurek (CEO) and Evan Anderson (Product, Growth). You’ll meet both during the hiring process.

Our team brings diverse expertise, high energy, and a passion for the product we’re building and the problem we’re solving.

About the Role

Overview

Pearl Edison is hiring an Auditor to serve our customers in Michigan. Your success will be measured by how many homeowners you serve, and how effectively. “Effective” means a well-executed Home Assessment that builds trust with the homeowner and provides the data we need to serve them well.

This is a field role. You will perform a robust Home Assessments using the Pearl Edison software platform - interviewing the homeowner, collecting data, and performing diagnostic testing. Then, you’ll support an Advisor as they finalize the scope of work, system design, and price for the project.

You’ll report to Pearl Edison’s Michigan General Manager. You’ll work closely with the local team of Advisors and Auditors (Pier Davis, Bennett Doherty, and more) and Pearl Edison’s Delivery Manager. You’ll also regularly work with Pearl Edison’s Building Science Lead, Brynn, and Co-Founder, Jake.

What you’re responsible for

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Build and maintain trust with homeowners. You are the face of Pearl Edison to the customers you serve.
  • Lead Home Assessments. During a Home Assessment, you will collect the data needed to complete a design load calculation, perform diagnostic testing to inform key scoping decisions, refine our hypothesis on the right scope of work to serve the customer, and share your learnings with the homeowner.
  • Support preparation of customer proposals. After the Home Assessment, an Advisor will finalize the design load, scope of work, and pricing for the customer’s project and follow up with the homeowner as quickly as practically possible. You will collaborate with them to get to the right answer.
  • Ensure that we capture and address the customer’s questions and priorities. You’ll spend a couple of hours with them, and learn a lot.
  • Flag problems before they’re problems. You’ll escalate the right questions and watch-outs to the General Manager, Delivery Manager, and Building Science Lead to avoid delivery problems downstream.
  • Perform occasional QA / QC audits to ensure that we and our contractor partners are delivering what we promise.

Apart from your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll provide feedback and work with the Product, Design, and Engineering teams to make the software platform better - to support your work and produce better results for the homeowners and contractors we serve. Every team member at Pearl Edison shares this responsibility. We’re a software-enabled service, not software-as-a-service, and we’re only as good as our workflow - the platform we are building to streamline and enforce workflow, and our execution of workflow. You should feel personal responsibility for both.

What you’re accountable for

You’re accountable for:

  • Winning projects - by volume and by percentage
  • Customer experience - particularly, the Home Assessment
  • Executability - i.e., downstream change orders / margin reduction due to improper project scoping

About You

As an Auditor at Pearl Edison:

  • You build strong relationships with people - in particular, with homeowners and with your teammates.
  • You sweat the details that matter, and you capably identify which details matter and which details don’t.
  • You are passionate about the mission of the company.

It’s a bonus if:

  • You have experience as an energy auditor.
  • You have a background in home services.
  • You have experience at an early-stage startup.

Compensation

We provide:

  • $60-80K base salary
  • A competitive early-stage equity package. (If Pearl Edison does well, you’ll do well.)
  • A company-funded healthcare allowance (QSEHRA)

Compensation may vary based on multiple individualized factors - particularly, relevant skills, experience, and knowledge.
