Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?

Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

Company Overview:

Tempus is a leading biotechnology company dedicated to advancing precision medicine through

the development and commercialization of innovative diagnostic products. We are seeking a

highly skilled and motivated Principal Bioinformatics Scientist to join our research &

Development team working on cutting edge technologies for precision oncology, focusing in

the near term on measuring Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) and Treatment Response Monitoring (TRM). Tempus has launched, and will continue to expand, both tumor-informed and tumor-naive MRD assays. We will also incorporate multimodal algorithms to discern patients at high risk of progression or relapse (MRD+, high-risk). This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of precision oncology and contribute to improving patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Algorithm Development: Designing, implementing, and validating cutting-edge algorithms and statistical models, including deep learning approaches, for analyzing large-scale genomic and epigenomic datasets.

  • Multimodal Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret complex multimodal data from techniques like next-generation sequencing (NGS), including methylation, DNA, and RNA, to derive insights for MRD and TRM.

  • Scalable Pipeline Development: Developing and maintaining robust bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing NGS data within high-performance computing environments.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with molecular biologists, other bioinformaticians, engineering and cross-functional teams to answer biological questions and drive the development and launch of assays and algorithms.

  • Leadership: Provide technical vision and strategic direction for bioinformatics projects, managing research initiatives from concept to commercialization and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.diagnostic products for clinical and research purposes, particularly those related to MRD.

  • Documentation and Communication: Producing high-quality documentation for projects and communicating results effectively to scientific teams and leadership.
